What is a tandem skydiving video?

A tandem skydive video is a video you can keep to remember your experience for years to come.

At Skydive MADRID, all videos are filmed with high-quality, modern cameras. After the jump, the footage is edited, and a final video highlighting the experience is sent to the client.

The video is delivered via email through a link sent after the jump, from which the file can be downloaded.

The skydiving video is a reportage that captures the best moments of the tandem jump and can be filmed “externally,” with another person filming in front of you during freefall, or with a handheld camera carried by the tandem instructor.

External Video vs. Handycam video

 HANDYCAM Video

Handycam is the name of the small camera our tandem skydiving instructors carry.

The camera is attached to the instructor’s left hand and primarily captures images of your face and during the flight with the parachute open. The recording angle is much closer than with external video.

EXTERNAL Video footage

In the external report, the video footage is obtained by another parachutist who jumps from the plane at the same time as the instructor and passenger “tandem”.

✅ Pictures of you and your instructor, completely, with the sky and the landscape
✅ 360° perspective of the jump, as recorded from “outside”
✅ YES, your approach and landing can be seen from the ground.
❌ You can book your jump day coverage only if there is availability. To ensure your video and photo coverage is available externally, please include it in the booking process, at least 3 days in advance
❌ The flight with the parachute open is NOT recorded.

What’s missing in the external video is the parachute ride once it’s open and those initial sensations of flying, since the person filming is in a separate parachute. But the benefit is that the angle is further away than with a handheld camera, meaning you can see your entire body, the sky, and the ground around you, giving a great sense of positioning.

Why hire a tandem skydive videographer?

Not doing so is one of the biggest regrets tandem skydivers have about their jump. Once you’ve jumped, you’ll undoubtedly want to share it with everyone you know and post it on your social media, but without a video, there’s no way to do it!

What to choose?

Each option has its pros and cons, but in both cases, you’ll have a memory to cherish for a lifetime.

Both recordings will provide a report of your jump with footage of boarding, ascent in the plane, and freefall, but from different perspectives.

In the external video, the cameraman will record your landing with your instructor, while the internal video will give you a beautiful memory of your walk under the parachute.

Ideally, you should get a combination of both, which together capture all the moments of your jump and transform them into a beautiful report of this incredible experience.
